Job Summary:
The Roadie is responsible for providing essential support to touring musicians and production teams during live music performances and events. This role requires a highly skilled and dedicated individual who possesses exceptional technical knowledge, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of musical equipment, including instruments, amplifiers, sound systems, and lighting fixtures.
2. Load and unload heavy equipment from trucks and ensure safe transportation to and from venues.
3. Set up and operate sound systems, including microphones, mixing boards, and speakers.
4. Assist musicians with equipment changes, instrument tuning, and other technical requirements during performances.
5. Handle cable management and ensure efficient and organized routing of audio, video, and electrical cables.
6. Collaborate with stagehands and production crews to ensure smooth transitions between performances and minimize downtime.
7. Perform routine checks and troubleshooting of equipment to identify and address technical issues promptly.
8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including storage of equipment and tools.
9. Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries during setup, rehearsals, and performances.
10. Assist with the loading and unloading of merchandise, ensuring accurate inventory counts and proper display for sale.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a roadie, stagehand, or similar role in the music or entertainment industry.
2. In-depth knowledge of musical instruments, sound systems, amplifiers, and lighting equipment.
3. Proficient in setting up and operating professional audio systems, including microphones, mixing boards, and speakers.
4. Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment, often in challenging and fast-paced environments.
5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure efficient cable management and equipment setup.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with musicians, stagehands, and production crews.
8. Strong communication skills to understand and execute instructions effectively.
9. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate performances and touring schedules.
10. Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all involved.
