Job Summary:
The Pianist will be responsible for performing live music on the piano in various settings, such as concerts, recitals, rehearsals, and other events as required. This role requires exceptional piano playing skills, extensive knowledge of music theory, and the ability to interpret and perform a wide range of musical genres. The Pianist will collaborate closely with other musicians, conductors, and performers to ensure high-quality musical performances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform piano music live during concerts, recitals, and other performances, demonstrating technical proficiency and musical expression.
2. Collaborate with other musicians, conductors, and performers to rehearse and perform ensemble pieces effectively.
3. Adapt to different musical styles and genres, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and popular music, to meet the requirements of each performance.
4. Sight-read and interpret musical scores accurately, ensuring precise timing, dynamics, and expression.
5. Prepare for performances by practicing diligently and maintaining a high level of performance readiness.
6. Attend rehearsals, meetings, and other required events as scheduled by the Music Director/Conductor.
7. Assist in the selection of appropriate musical pieces for performances, considering the audience, venue, and event theme.
8. Maintain and care for the piano and other musical instruments used during performances, ensuring they are in optimal condition.
9. Collaborate with composers, arrangers, and other musicians to develop new musical arrangements or compositions when required.
10. Stay updated with current trends and developments in piano playing techniques and music theory.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Music Performance, Piano, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a professional pianist, with a strong portfolio of performances.
3. Exceptional technical skills on the piano, including proficiency in sight-reading and improvisation.
4. Extensive knowledge of music theory, harmony, and composition.
5. Ability to perform a wide range of musical genres, including classical, jazz, contemporary, and popular music.
6. Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of an ensemble.
7. Excellent time management and organizational abilities to meet rehearsal and performance deadlines.
8. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. High level of dedication, commitment, and passion for music.
10. Ability to adapt and perform under pressure in live performance settings.
