Position Summary:
The Legal Support Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to legal teams and attorneys within a law firm or legal department. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The Legal Support Coordinator will assist in managing case files, coordinating legal documents, and facilitating communication between internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurately filed and organized.
2. Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances for attorneys and legal staff.
3. Assist with drafting, proofreading, and editing legal documents including pleadings, briefs, and contracts.
4. Prepare and file legal documents with courts, government agencies, and other relevant entities.
5. Conduct legal research and gather information from various sources to support case preparation.
6. Prepare and organize exhibits, trial binders, and other materials for court hearings, trials, and depositions.
7. Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and external parties to facilitate communication and ensure timely responses.
8. Maintain calendars, track deadlines, and update attorneys on upcoming court dates and other important events.
9. Coordinate and assist with document production, including photocopying, scanning, and organizing electronic files.
10. Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working as a legal support coordinator, paralegal, or similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and filing requirements.
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
5. Proficiency in using legal research databases, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Exceptional attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy in document preparation and proofreading.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
9. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
10. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
