Job Description: Law and Criminal Justice - Paralegal - Bankruptcy Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal specializing in Bankruptcy Law to join our esteemed law firm. As a Bankruptcy Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with bankruptcy cases, ensuring all legal matters are handled efficiently and effectively. Your knowledge of bankruptcy laws and procedures will be essential in managing a variety of bankruptcy-related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive research on bankruptcy laws, regulations, and case precedents to support attorneys in case preparation.
- Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and pleadings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Prepare and file bankruptcy-related documents electronically or via traditional methods in a timely manner.
- Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all necessary documents and evidence are readily accessible.
- Liaise with clients, court officials, and other relevant parties to gather required information and documentation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients to provide updates on case progress and answer any queries.
- Prepare and coordinate bankruptcy-related meetings, hearings, and court appearances, ensuring all necessary arrangements are made.
- Collaborate with attorneys to prepare for bankruptcy hearings and trials, including organizing exhibits, witness statements, and other supporting documents.
- Assist with the preparation of bankruptcy-related financial analyses, including asset evaluations, income assessments, and debt calculations.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and comply with ethical and legal standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Certified Paralegal (CP) certification preferred.
- Previous experience as a Bankruptcy Specialist or similar role in a law firm or legal environment.
- Solid understanding of bankruptcy laws, regulations, and court procedures.
- Proficient in legal research, including the use of online databases and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Proficient in using legal case management software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
