Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Consultant to join our dynamic team in the Law and Criminal Justice department. The Legal Consultant will provide expert advice and support to our clients, assisting them in navigating complex legal matters related to various areas of law, including but not limited to criminal justice, civil litigation, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal consultation and guidance to clients on a wide range of legal matters, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy development.
3. Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including contracts, agreements, pleadings, and other related documents.
4. Assist in preparing and filing legal briefs, motions, and appeals with relevant courts or authorities.
5. Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals to gather and organize evidence, prepare witnesses, and conduct trial preparation.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, documentation, and records.
7. Stay updated with changes in legislation, regulations, and legal precedents, ensuring compliance with legal standards and best practices.
8. Provide guidance to junior legal staff and paralegals, assisting in their professional development.
9. Attend client meetings, hearings, and court proceedings as required, representing the firm and clients professionally.
10. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all dealings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
2. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
3. Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
4. Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Legal Consultant or in a similar legal role.
5. In-depth knowledge and understanding of various areas of law, including criminal justice, civil litigation, and regulatory compliance.
6. Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
8. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Proficient in legal research tools, databases, and software.
10. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients and colleagues.
12. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
