Job Description: Environmental Law Paralegal
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Law Paralegal to join our legal team. The Environmental Law Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys specialized in environmental law and play a crucial role in assisting with case management, legal research, document preparation, and client communication. This position requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations and legal procedures, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on various environmental law topics, including statutes, regulations, and case law, to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
- Analyze and summarize legal documents and data related to environmental litigation, enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, contracts, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established guidelines.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing trial exhibits, witness lists, and other relevant documentation.
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are organized and accessible for easy retrieval.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and other parties involved in environmental law matters.
- Attend meetings, hearings, and trials, when necessary, to provide paralegal support and assist with document management.
- Stay updated on current environmental laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to the legal team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Paralegal, preferably specializing in environmental law or related areas.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and enforcement procedures.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex legal information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft legal documents and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Proficient in using legal research databases, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis, to conduct thorough legal research.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
