Responsibilities:
1. Perform accurate and timely pathological examinations, including gross and microscopic examinations, tissue sectioning, and staining.
2. Analyze and interpret patient samples, tissues, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases, conditions, and abnormalities.
3. Collaborate with other medical professionals, including physicians and surgeons, to provide accurate pathological diagnoses and recommendations for patient treatment plans.
4. Provide consultation services to healthcare professionals and assist in the selection and interpretation of appropriate laboratory tests.
5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases, treatment options, and outcomes.
6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all pathological examinations, diagnoses, and consultations.
7. Stay updated with advancements in the field of pathology and actively participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
8. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
9. Supervise and train laboratory staff, including technicians and assistants, in proper specimen handling, processing, and analysis techniques.
10. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and the development and implementation of new laboratory techniques or procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
2. Completion of residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or a related pathology subspecialty.
3. Board certification or eligibility in Pathology from the American Board of Pathology (ABP) or equivalent certification in the respective country.
4. Valid medical license to practice as a Pathologist.
5. Extensive knowledge of pathology principles, including histology, immunohistochemistry, cytology, and molecular diagnostics.
6. Proven expertise in pathological examination techniques, including gross and microscopic examination, tissue sectioning, and staining.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make accurate diagnoses.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals and patients.
9. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
