Job Summary:
The Drama Coach will be responsible for providing expert guidance, instruction, and support to individuals or groups participating in drama and acting programs. This role requires a deep understanding of acting techniques, theatrical practices, and the ability to effectively communicate and inspire students. The Drama Coach will play a crucial role in developing and nurturing the acting skills, confidence, and creativity of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct acting and drama classes, workshops, and rehearsals for individuals or groups of students.
- Teach acting techniques, including but not limited to voice projection, blocking, character development, and stage presence.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans, ensuring they are engaging, progressive, and aligned with the curriculum goals.
- Assess and evaluate students' progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Collaborate with the theater director and other staff members to select appropriate scripts, plays, or scenes for performances.
- Assist in auditions, casting, and selection of actors for productions.
- Guide students in interpreting scripts, developing characters, and understanding dramatic texts.
- Organize and manage rehearsals, ensuring effective utilization of time and resources.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.
- Attend and support student performances, providing encouragement and constructive critique.
- Stay updated on the latest acting techniques, trends, and industry practices through continuous professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Theater, Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Drama Coach, Acting Teacher, or a similar role in the entertainment industry.
- In-depth knowledge of various acting techniques and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of theatrical practices, stagecraft, and production processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum.
- Ability to assess and provide constructive feedback on acting performances.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Passion for the arts and dedication to nurturing students' creativity and self-expression.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required.
