Job Summary:
The Fish and Game Warden is responsible for enforcing wildlife conservation laws, protecting natural resources, and ensuring compliance with fishing and hunting regulations. This role involves conducting patrols, investigations, and surveillance activities to detect and prevent illegal activities related to fish and wildlife. The Fish and Game Warden will also contribute to public education and outreach efforts to promote conservation awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enforce wildlife and conservation laws by conducting patrols, investigations, and surveillance activities to detect and prevent violations related to fishing, hunting, trapping, and other wildlife-related activities.
2. Educate and inform the public about wildlife conservation laws, regulations, and responsible outdoor practices.
3. Investigate complaints, incidents, and violations related to fish and wildlife, gathering evidence and preparing reports for legal proceedings.
4. Conduct inspections of commercial and recreational facilities, including hunting lodges, fishing camps, and game farms, to ensure compliance with regulations.
5. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, such as state police or park rangers, to address wildlife-related crimes and emergencies.
6. Participate in search and rescue operations for lost or injured individuals in wilderness areas.
7. Collect and maintain accurate records and data related to wildlife population, habitat conditions, and law enforcement activities.
8. Assist in the development and implementation of wildlife management plans, including habitat restoration, species reintroduction, and population control measures.
9. Provide support during wildlife emergencies, such as oil spills or natural disasters, to protect and rescue affected wildlife.
10. Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and conservation practices through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Conservation, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in wildlife conservation, law enforcement, or a similar role.
3. Strong knowledge of fish and wildlife species, habitats, and conservation principles.
4. Excellent understanding of local, state, and federal wildlife laws and regulations.
5. Ability to conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports.
6. Proficient in the use of GPS, surveillance equipment, and other relevant technology.
7. Physical fitness and the ability to work in various outdoor environments and challenging weather conditions.
8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to educate and interact with diverse audiences.
9. Demonstrated ability to work independently, make decisions, and handle stressful situations.
10. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
