Job Description: Herpetologist - Wildlife Conservation
Position Overview:
The Herpetologist will be responsible for conducting research and implementing conservation strategies focused on the study and protection of reptiles and amphibians (herpetofauna) in the field of wildlife conservation. This role plays a vital part in preserving biodiversity and ensuring the long-term survival of herpetofauna species. The Herpetologist will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to develop and implement effective conservation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive research and surveys to assess herpetofauna populations, distribution, and habitat requirements.
2. Develop and implement conservation strategies for reptiles and amphibians, considering their ecological needs and potential threats.
3. Monitor and evaluate the success of conservation programs through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
4. Identify and recommend appropriate conservation actions, such as habitat restoration, captive breeding programs, and species reintroduction.
5. Collaborate with other scientists, researchers, and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and contribute to the scientific community.
6. Provide expert advice and guidance on herpetofauna-related matters to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience in herpetology research and wildlife conservation.
3. Strong knowledge of reptile and amphibian biology, ecology, taxonomy, and conservation issues.
4. Proficiency in conducting field surveys, data collection, and statistical analysis.
5. Familiarity with GIS software and analysis tools for habitat mapping and spatial analysis.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
7. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
