Job Description: Wildlife Conservation Zootechnician
Position Overview:
The Wildlife Conservation Zootechnician is responsible for providing support and assistance in the field of wildlife conservation within the Agriculture and Environmental Science industry. This role focuses on ensuring the well-being, care, and management of wildlife species in conservation programs. The Wildlife Conservation Zootechnician collaborates with a team of professionals to implement wildlife conservation strategies and contribute to the protection of endangered species and their habitats.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the daily care and management of wildlife species within conservation programs, ensuring their health, safety, and welfare.
2. Monitor and maintain animal enclosures, providing appropriate environmental conditions and enrichment activities for the well-being of wildlife species.
3. Support the collection and analysis of data related to wildlife behavior, reproduction, health, and population dynamics.
4. Participate in the implementation of wildlife conservation plans and projects, including habitat restoration, species reintroduction, and wildlife monitoring programs.
5. Administer veterinary treatments and assist with medical procedures, under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.
6. Prepare and distribute diets tailored to the nutritional needs of wildlife species, considering their specific dietary requirements.
7. Conduct regular inspections of enclosures and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
8. Assist in the capture, restraint, and transport of wildlife for research, veterinary care, or relocation purposes.
9. Collaborate with researchers, biologists, and other professionals to support scientific studies and contribute to the development of conservation strategies.
10. Provide education and guidance to visitors and the public regarding wildlife conservation efforts and the importance of protecting endangered species.
Required Skills:

Qualifications:

3. Knowledge of regional wildlife species and their conservation needs.
4. Certification in wildlife capture and restraint techniques (preferred).
5. Familiarity with wildlife rehabilitation and reintroduction programs.
6. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to different sites as required.
