Job Description: Wildlife Surveyor
Position Overview:
The Wildlife Surveyor is responsible for conducting detailed surveys and assessments of wildlife populations and their habitats within the field of wildlife conservation. This role plays a crucial part in collecting essential data to support wildlife management and conservation efforts. The Wildlife Surveyor must possess a strong understanding of agriculture and environmental science, with an emphasis on wildlife conservation principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive wildlife surveys and assessments to determine population sizes, distribution, behavior, and habitat utilization.
- Utilize advanced field research techniques and statistical methods to collect accurate and reliable data on wildlife populations and their ecosystems.
- Identify and document various wildlife species, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, using appropriate survey methods and tools.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of human activities on wildlife habitats, such as land-use changes, climate change, and pollution, and provide recommendations for conservation strategies.
- Collaborate with wildlife biologists, ecologists, and other professionals to develop and implement wildlife management plans.
- Maintain and update accurate records of survey findings, ensuring they are properly organized and easily accessible for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Apply GIS (Geographic Information System) and GPS technologies to map and track wildlife movements, habitat changes, and other relevant data.
- Conduct data analysis, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing survey findings and recommending appropriate conservation measures.
- Stay current with advancements in wildlife survey methods, tools, and technologies, and actively contribute to improving survey protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of wildlife conservation principles, practices, and legislation.
- Proficient in conducting wildlife surveys and assessments, including familiarity with various survey methodologies.
- Ability to accurately identify wildlife species, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, based on visual and auditory cues.
- Experience using GIS software and GPS technology for mapping and tracking wildlife.
- Excellent data collection, organization, and analysis skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including the ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations.

- Physical fitness and stamina to work in outdoor environments, often under challenging conditions.
