Job Summary:
The Nuclear Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at nuclear facilities, ensuring the protection of personnel, assets, and materials. This role involves monitoring security systems, conducting patrols, and implementing security protocols to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or sabotage. The Nuclear Security Officer must possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an ability to respond effectively to security incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and operate security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and other electronic security devices.
2. Conduct routine patrols of designated areas within the nuclear facility to detect and deter potential security threats.
3. Implement and enforce security protocols, procedures, and practices to safeguard personnel, assets, and nuclear materials.
4. Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
5. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, personnel, and packages to prevent the unauthorized introduction of prohibited items within the facility.
6. Collaborate with other security personnel to coordinate and execute emergency response plans, evacuations, and lockdown procedures.
7. Provide support during investigations into security breaches, incidents, or suspicious activities, including collecting evidence and preparing reports.
8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of security-related activities, incidents, and inspections.
9. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to nuclear security, ensuring compliance and recommending improvements when necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in law enforcement, security, or related disciplines are preferred.
2. Minimum of [X] years of experience working in a security-related role, preferably in an industrial or nuclear facility setting.
3. In-depth knowledge of security systems, access control systems, and CCTV monitoring.
4. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to nuclear security and safety.
5. Strong observational and analytical skills, with an ability to identify and respond to potential security threats quickly and effectively.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to relay information clearly and concisely.
7. Physically fit and able to perform regular patrols, inspections, and respond promptly during emergency situations.
8. Proficient in using computers and security-related software applications.
9. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
10. Clean criminal record and ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances as required by the facility.
