Job Summary:
The Fish and Game Warden is responsible for enforcing laws and regulations related to the conservation and protection of fish, wildlife, and natural resources within a designated area. The incumbent will conduct investigations, patrol assigned areas, and educate the public on wildlife conservation and safety. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, excellent decision-making abilities, and strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Enforce fish and wildlife laws and regulations within the designated area.
2. Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, including remote wilderness, forests, and water bodies.
3. Investigate reports of illegal hunting, fishing, trapping, and poaching activities.
4. Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and compile case files for legal proceedings.
5. Issue citations and warnings to violators and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
6. Assist in search and rescue operations, as needed, to ensure public safety.
7. Educate the public on fish and wildlife conservation, hunting and fishing regulations, and safe outdoor practices.
8. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, conservation organizations, and wildlife management agencies.
9. Provide support during emergencies, natural disasters, or other related incidents.
10. Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and investigations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Wildlife Management, or a related field.
2. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
3. Ability to swim and operate small watercraft.
4. Proficient knowledge of local, state, and federal fish and wildlife laws and regulations.
5. Excellent physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and rugged terrains.
6. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to act calmly in high-pressure situations.
7. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with diverse groups of individuals.
8. Knowledge of investigative techniques and evidence collection procedures.
9. Basic understanding of natural resource management and wildlife conservation principles.
10. Ability to use various technical equipment, such as firearms, binoculars, radios, and GPS devices.
