Job Description: Communication and Media - Journalism - Documentary Filmmaker
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Documentary Filmmaker to join our Communication and Media team. As a Documentary Filmmaker, you will be responsible for the conceptualization, development, production, and post-production of engaging and thought-provoking documentaries. This role requires exceptional storytelling abilities, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of journalistic principles.
Responsibilities:
1. Research and ideate compelling documentary concepts that align with organizational goals and objectives.
2. Develop detailed project plans, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
3. Conduct in-depth interviews, gather factual information, and collect visual assets necessary for documentary production.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including writers, producers, videographers, and editors, to ensure seamless execution of projects.
5. Direct and supervise film shoots, ensuring adherence to creative vision, technical standards, and ethical practices.
6. Oversee the post-production process, including editing, sound design, color grading, and visual effects.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, techniques, and technologies related to documentary filmmaking.
8. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines, including copyright laws and release forms.
9. Collaborate with stakeholders to promote documentaries through various channels, including film festivals, online platforms, and broadcast networks.
10. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
11. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of documentaries and implement improvements based on viewer feedback and analytics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Film Production, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
2. Proven experience in documentary filmmaking, with a strong portfolio of past projects.
3. Proficiency in using industry-standard equipment, software, and tools for filming, editing, and post-production.
4. Excellent storytelling abilities and a keen eye for capturing compelling visuals.
5. Strong research and investigative skills to gather accurate and reliable information.
6. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for conducting interviews and building relationships with subjects and stakeholders.
7. Deep understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards.
