Job Summary:
The Hydrologist will be responsible for studying the distribution, movement, and quality of water within the Earth's surface, focusing on the understanding and management of water resources. This role requires expertise in analyzing and interpreting hydrological data, conducting field investigations, and providing scientific insights to support environmental conservation and sustainable water management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct hydrological research and analysis to evaluate water resources, including surface water and groundwater systems.
2. Collect, compile, and analyze hydrological data from various sources, such as field surveys, remote sensing, and computer modeling.
3. Assess the impact of human activities, climate change, and natural processes on water quantity and quality.
4. Develop and implement hydrological models to simulate water flow, infiltration, and runoff, and predict future water availability.
5. Provide technical expertise and recommendations to support water resource management, flood control, and environmental impact assessments.
6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to investigate the interaction between hydrological systems and other environmental factors.
7. Conduct field investigations to measure water levels, flow rates, and water quality parameters.
8. Prepare and present reports, charts, and maps to communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
9. Stay up-to-date with advancements in hydrological research methods, technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in hydrological research, analysis, and modeling techniques.
3. Strong knowledge of hydrological principles, water resource management, and environmental impact assessment.
4. Proficiency in using hydrological software, GIS tools, and statistical analysis software (e.g., HEC-HMS, MODFLOW, ArcGIS, R, MATLAB).
5. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret hydrological data accurately and efficiently.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to various stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
9. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines, environmental policies, and best practices in hydrological research.
