Job Summary:
The Environmental Educator will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs focused on environmental science and conservation. They will work closely with schools, community organizations, and the general public to promote environmental awareness and foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment. The Environmental Educator will deliver engaging and interactive presentations, organize field trips, and facilitate hands-on activities to inspire individuals of all ages to become environmentally conscious.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver educational programs tailored to various target audiences, including students, teachers, community groups, and the general public.
2. Create and deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and interactive activities that promote environmental science and conservation.
3. Collaborate with schools and community organizations to design and implement environmental education initiatives.
4. Conduct research on environmental topics and stay updated on current trends and developments in the field.
5. Organize and lead field trips to environmentally significant locations, ensuring a safe and educational experience for participants.
6. Prepare educational materials, such as lesson plans, handouts, and visual aids, to support instructional activities.
7. Assess the effectiveness of educational programs through participant feedback and evaluation methods, and make necessary improvements to enhance program quality.
8. Maintain accurate records of program attendance, evaluations, and other relevant data.
9. Assist in organizing and participating in community events, workshops, and conferences related to environmental education.
10. Collaborate with other members of the environmental education team to develop new programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in environmental education or a related field, preferably in a formal or informal education setting.
3. Excellent knowledge of environmental science concepts, conservation practices, and sustainability principles.
4. Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver interactive and hands-on educational activities.
6. Knowledge of instructional design principles and experience in developing educational materials and lesson plans.
7. Familiarity with current educational technologies and tools for delivering online and virtual programs.
8. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
9. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
10. Passion for environmental conservation and a genuine interest in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
