Job Summary:
The Comparative Medicine Specialist plays a crucial role in advancing veterinary research by providing specialized care, expertise, and support in the field of comparative medicine. Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct in-depth literature reviews and research to gain knowledge on comparative medicine theories, practices, and advancements.
2. Develop and implement specialized veterinary care protocols for research animals, ensuring optimal health and welfare.
3. Collaborate with research teams to design, plan, and execute comparative medicine studies, ensuring adherence to experimental protocols and ethical guidelines.
4. Provide expert guidance on animal model selection, husbandry practices, and disease models, considering their relevance to human diseases and therapies.
5. Monitor and evaluate animal health, behavior, and welfare throughout research studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
2. Board certification or eligibility in Laboratory Animal Medicine or Comparative Medicine is required.
3. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a research or academic setting, preferably in the field of comparative medicine.
4. Strong knowledge of laboratory animal species, their physiology, and disease models.
5. Extensive understanding of scientific research methodology, experimental design, and statistical analysis.
6. Proficient in conducting literature reviews and staying updated with scientific publications.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
8. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented research environment.

10. Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and ethical considerations related to animal research (e.g., IACUC, AAALAC).
