Position Overview:
The Merchandise Forecast Analyst is responsible for analyzing sales data, market trends, and customer behavior to accurately forecast product demand and optimize inventory levels. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the availability of merchandise, minimizing stock-outs, and maximizing sales opportunities. The Merchandise Forecast Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop effective forecasting models, support strategic planning, and contribute to the overall success of the merchandising department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant factors to forecast merchandise demand accurately.
- Develop and maintain forecasting models to optimize inventory levels, ensuring sufficient stock availability while minimizing overstock situations.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to understand promotional activities, upcoming product launches, and market dynamics that may impact demand.
- Monitor and analyze customer buying patterns, preferences, and behavior to identify potential shifts in demand and adjust forecasts accordingly.
- Conduct regular sales analysis to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends, providing actionable insights to drive sales and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, supply chain, and finance, to align merchandise forecasts with inventory planning, procurement, and budgeting processes.
- Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and forecasts to stakeholders, providing clear and concise insights on merchandise performance and market trends.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate forecasting models, incorporating feedback and making recommendations for improvements to enhance accuracy and effectiveness.
- Stay updated with industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies related to merchandise forecasting and analysis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Merchandise Forecast Analyst or similar role in a retail or sales environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze large volumes of data from various sources.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and data modeling.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Familiarity with retail merchandising systems and software (e.g., ERP, inventory management, demand planning).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data and insights in a clear and understandable manner.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
