Job Summary:
The Merchandiser is responsible for implementing effective merchandising strategies and tactics to maximize sales and profitability within assigned product categories. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Merchandiser will work closely with the Merchandising Manager to ensure that product assortments, inventory levels, and visual displays meet the needs of the target market and align with the company's overall objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute merchandising plans and strategies for assigned product categories, incorporating market trends, consumer preferences, and sales data.
2. Conduct thorough analysis of sales performance, product performance, and market trends to identify opportunities and make data-driven recommendations for assortment planning and inventory management.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including buying, planning, and marketing, to ensure seamless execution of merchandising strategies and initiatives.
4. Manage product lifecycle, including new product introductions, line extensions, and discontinuations, ensuring optimal inventory levels and timely replenishment.
5. Monitor and analyze competitor activity, pricing, and promotions to identify competitive threats and opportunities in the market.
6. Regularly review and update visual merchandising guidelines, ensuring consistent and appealing product displays that enhance the shopping experience.
7. Collaborate with store teams to provide training and support on product knowledge, merchandising guidelines, and sales techniques.
8. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate favorable terms to optimize product costs and margins.
9. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective promotional strategies that drive product awareness and sales.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies related to merchandising and retail, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Merchandiser or similar role within the retail industry.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with merchandising software is preferred.
6. Exceptional attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
8. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
9. Knowledge of retail math and understanding of financial metrics related to sales, margin, and inventory.
10. Passion for retail, with a strong understanding of consumer behavior and market trends.
