Job Description: Certified Hand Therapist (Sports Medicine)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Certified Hand Therapist to join our Sports Medicine department. The Certified Hand Therapist will play a critical role in providing specialized rehabilitation services to athletes and individuals recovering from hand and upper extremity injuries. This position requires a deep understanding of hand and upper extremity anatomy, treatment techniques, and rehabilitation protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate patients' hand and upper extremity conditions, including injuries, disorders, and post-operative rehabilitation needs
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on individual patient needs and goals
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, exercises, and modalities to facilitate optimal recovery and improve patients' hand and upper extremity function
- Provide hands-on manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and scar management
- Educate patients on injury prevention, self-care techniques, and home exercise programs to enhance treatment outcomes
- Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, progress, and treatment plans
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in hand therapy techniques, research, and evidence-based practices
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification from an accredited program
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy or a related field
- Current state license or eligibility to practice as an Occupational Therapist
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hand therapy, preferably in a sports medicine or orthopedic setting
- In-depth knowledge of hand and upper extremity anatomy, biomechanics, and common injuries
- Proficient in conducting comprehensive evaluations and assessments of hand and upper extremity conditions
- Strong understanding of evidence-based hand therapy interventions and treatment techniques
- Excellent manual therapy skills, including joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and scar management
- Ability to develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on individual patient needs and goals
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Strong documentation skills to maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest advancements in hand therapy practices
