Summary:
The Public Health Specialist is responsible for providing expertise in public health programs, initiatives, and interventions aimed at promoting and improving the health and well-being of communities. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate public health strategies, policies, and interventions.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessments of community health needs, identifying key health issues and disparities within target populations.
2. Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop evidence-based public health interventions and programs that address identified health needs.
3. Implement and manage public health programs, ensuring adherence to established guidelines, protocols, and best practices.
4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of public health initiatives, utilizing data analysis to measure outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
5. Provide guidance and support to public health staff and community partners, ensuring proper implementation and delivery of programs.
6. Develop and deliver educational materials, presentations, and trainings to raise awareness and promote behavior change in relation to public health issues.
7. Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and healthcare providers to foster partnerships and enhance coordination of public health services.
8. Stay abreast of emerging trends, research, and best practices in public health, incorporating relevant findings into program development and implementation.
9. Assist in the preparation of grants and funding proposals to secure resources for public health initiatives.
10. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to program activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in public health program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
3. In-depth knowledge of public health principles, practices, and strategies, with a focus on community health promotion and disease prevention.
4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize data to inform decision-making and program development.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, organizing, and coordinating multiple tasks and priorities.
7. Proficient in using data management and analysis software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Knowledge of public health policies, regulations, and funding mechanisms.
9. Familiarity with grant writing and proposal development.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
