Job Summary:
The Welder is responsible for performing various welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal parts and structures. They will utilize their expertise to interpret blueprints, follow safety protocols, and accurately complete welding assignments within specified deadlines. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards are essential for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, to meet project requirements.
2. Interpret and analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding procedures and layouts.
3. Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently, including selecting appropriate materials and welding methods.
4. Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications, making necessary adjustments as needed.
5. Identify and resolve welding defects or issues to ensure finished products meet required standards.
6. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan and prioritize work assignments.
7. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of welding equipment and materials.
8. Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
9. Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and new welding techniques to enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Proven experience as a Welder or similar role.
3. Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
4. In-depth knowledge of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings.
5. Ability to operate welding equipment, including welders, torches, grinders, and other related tools.
6. Strong understanding of metal properties and characteristics.
7. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
8. Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
10. Understanding of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
11. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
12. Physical stamina and ability to work in various positions, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
