Job Summary:
The Baker is responsible for preparing and baking a variety of bakery products, including bread, cakes, pastries, and desserts. This individual will ensure the production of high-quality baked goods while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. The Baker will collaborate with the culinary team to meet customer demands and maintain a positive working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and bake a wide range of bakery products, including bread, rolls, pastries, cakes, cookies, and desserts.
2. Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, ensuring accurate measurements and consistent quality.
3. Operate and maintain baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters.
4. Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure optimal results.
5. Decorate and present baked goods in an appealing manner, following established guidelines for presentation and garnishing.
6. Assist in developing and testing new bakery recipes, as required.
7. Maintain inventory of baking supplies, ensuring timely reordering and proper storage.
8. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring cleanliness and organization in the bakery area.
9. Collaborate closely with other members of the culinary team to meet customer demands and provide excellent service.
10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and labeling of ingredients and finished products.
11. Assist in training and mentoring junior bakery staff, as needed.
12. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new baking techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Culinary Arts degree or certification preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Baker or similar role in a hospitality or bakery setting.
3. In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
4. Ability to read and follow recipes accurately, with strong attention to detail.
5. Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
7. Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
8. Creativity and artistic skills for decorating and presenting baked goods.
9. Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
10. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
11. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
