Position Overview:
The Forest Fire Equipment Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining fire suppression equipment and vehicles used in forest fire prevention and control. This role requires a deep understanding of the technical aspects of forest fire equipment, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in challenging outdoor environments.
Responsibilities:
1. Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining forest fire equipment, including fire engines, pumps, hoses, nozzles, chainsaws, and hand tools.
2. Conducting regular preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition and meets safety standards.
3. Performing diagnostic tests to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues in fire suppression equipment.
4. Collaborating with team members to develop and implement equipment maintenance schedules and procedures.
5. Ordering and managing inventory of spare parts, fluids, and supplies required for equipment maintenance and repairs.
6. Conducting routine equipment inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
7. Assisting in the training of staff on the proper handling, maintenance, and operation of fire suppression equipment.
8. Responding to emergency situations and providing technical support during forest fire incidents.
9. Maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory management activities.
10. Staying updated on the latest advancements in forest fire equipment and technology to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field is preferred.
2. Proven experience as a Forest Fire Equipment Technician or a similar role is highly desirable.
3. In-depth knowledge of forest fire equipment, including fire engines, pumps, hoses, nozzles, chainsaws, and hand tools.
4. Strong technical skills to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in fire suppression equipment.
5. Proficient in conducting preventive maintenance tasks and developing maintenance schedules.
6. Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
7. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
8. Exceptional organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
9. Physical fitness and endurance to work outdoors in challenging weather conditions and rugged terrains.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and provide training when required.
