Job Summary:
The Forest Supply Chain Analyst is responsible for analyzing and optimizing the supply chain processes within the forestry sector. This role requires a deep understanding of forestry operations, logistics, and market dynamics to ensure efficient and sustainable management of forest resources. The Forest Supply Chain Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify areas of improvement, develop strategies, and implement solutions to enhance the overall supply chain performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive analysis of the forest supply chain, including timber harvesting, transportation, processing, and distribution, to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
2. Develop and implement strategies to optimize the forest supply chain, ensuring cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, and compliance with applicable regulations.
3. Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to assess and improve procurement processes, inventory management, and distribution practices.
4. Utilize data analytics and modeling techniques to forecast supply and demand trends, evaluate market conditions, and make informed recommendations for inventory levels and production schedules.
5. Monitor and evaluate the performance of suppliers, contractors, and logistics partners to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
6. Conduct regular audits and reviews of forest management practices, certification procedures, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and local communities, to stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and social/environmental responsibilities.
8. Provide timely and accurate reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management regarding supply chain performance, risks, and opportunities.
9. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes related to the forest supply chain, and proactively identify opportunities to leverage them for improved efficiency and sustainability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in supply chain analysis, preferably within the forestry or agriculture industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of forestry operations, including timber harvesting, processing, and transportation.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to interpret complex data sets and develop actionable insights.
5. Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SAS, R, or Python) to analyze and visualize supply chain-related data.
6. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
8. Knowledge of sustainability and environmental regulations related to the forestry sector.
9. Familiarity with forest certification standards, such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative), is preferred.
10. Ability to travel to various locations, including remote forest areas, as required.
