Job Summary:
The Forest Resource Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and assessment of forest resources to support effective forest management practices. This role involves collecting and analyzing data related to forest inventory, growth, and health, and providing actionable insights to optimize sustainable forestry operations. The Forest Resource Analyst collaborates closely with the Forestry Manager and other team members to ensure the successful implementation of forest management plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive data collection and analysis of forest resources, including but not limited to:
- Collecting field data related to forest inventory, tree species, age, density, and growth patterns.
- Utilizing remote sensing techniques to analyze forest health, vegetation cover, and biomass.
- Assessing soil conditions, water resources, and other environmental factors relevant to forestry operations.
2. Develop and maintain accurate forest inventory databases and GIS spatial datasets, ensuring data integrity and compliance with established protocols.
3. Apply statistical methods and modeling techniques to interpret forest resource data, identify trends, and generate meaningful insights for decision-making.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Silviculture, Operations, and Planning, to integrate forest resource analysis into management plans and strategies.
5. Assist in the development and implementation of forest management plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
6. Conduct field inspections and monitoring activities to verify the accuracy of forest data, assess the impact of management practices, and identify potential risks or opportunities.
7. Stay up-to-date with advancements in forest resource analysis techniques, technologies, and industry trends, and recommend innovative approaches to enhance data collection and analysis processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Forestry, Forest Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in forest resource analysis, including data collection, interpretation, and reporting.
3. Proficiency in utilizing GIS software and other relevant tools for spatial analysis and data visualization.
4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply statistical methods and modeling techniques to interpret complex forest resource data.
5. Solid understanding of forestry principles, including forest inventory, growth, and health assessment.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
7. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to maintaining data integrity.
9. Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices related to forestry operations.
10. Physical fitness and willingness to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions.
