Job Summary:
The Forensic Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to strict quality control and assurance standards within the field of forensic science. This role involves implementing and managing quality control processes, conducting audits, and analyzing forensic procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The Forensic Quality Assurance Manager will collaborate with forensic scientists, laboratory personnel, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain efficient quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement quality control procedures and policies within the forensic science laboratory.
2. Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with quality standards, including ISO/IEC 17025 and other relevant regulatory requirements.
3. Monitor and evaluate forensic processes, methods, and techniques to identify areas for improvement and ensure accuracy and reliability.
4. Collaborate with forensic scientists to develop and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain quality and consistency.
5. Provide guidance and training to laboratory personnel on quality control practices, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
6. Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, including non-conformities, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
7. Develop and maintain documentation of quality control activities, audits, and laboratory records.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and changes in quality assurance practices within forensic science.
9. Liaise with external agencies, accreditation bodies, and auditors to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
10. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality consciousness within the forensic science laboratory.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience working in a forensic science laboratory, specifically in a quality assurance or quality control capacity.
3. In-depth knowledge of quality control practices, standards, and regulations within the forensic science field.
4. Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements and experience in maintaining accreditation is highly desirable.
5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically evaluate forensic processes, data, and results.
6. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in quality control procedures.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present findings or recommendations.
8. Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software applications.
9. Strong problem-solving abilities with the capability to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
10. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
