Job Description: Forensic Cybersecurity Analyst
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forensic Cybersecurity Analyst to join our Law and Criminal Justice team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth forensic investigations related to cybercrimes and security incidents. As a Forensic Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and documenting digital evidence to support legal proceedings and contribute to the resolution of cyber-related incidents. This position requires a strong background in forensic science, cybersecurity, and an in-depth understanding of digital investigative techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive forensic investigations of digital evidence related to cybercrimes and security breaches.
2. Utilize industry-standard forensic tools and techniques to acquire, preserve, and analyze digital evidence from a variety of sources, including computers, mobile devices, networks, and cloud storage.
3. Identify and document potential security vulnerabilities and threats through proactive monitoring and analysis of digital systems.
4. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather and document evidence in a manner that ensures chain of custody and maintains the integrity of the data.
5. Prepare detailed forensic analysis reports, documenting findings, methodologies, and recommendations for further action.
6. Provide expert testimony and present findings in a clear and concise manner during legal proceedings, as required.
7. Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in forensic science, cybersecurity, and digital investigations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in conducting digital forensic investigations within the field of cybersecurity or law enforcement.
3. Strong knowledge of forensic principles, techniques, and industry-standard tools for acquiring, analyzing, and preserving digital evidence.
4. Proficiency in using forensic software, such as EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, X-Ways, or similar tools.
5. Solid understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and file systems commonly encountered in digital investigations.
6. Familiarity with malware analysis and reverse engineering techniques.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and approach investigations in a meticulous and methodical manner.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
9. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, while adhering to strict deadlines and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
10. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and ethical conduct in handling sensitive digital evidence.
