Job Summary:
The Park Ranger is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and protection of visitors and park resources within designated areas. The role involves enforcing park regulations, conducting patrols, providing guidance and assistance to visitors, and coordinating emergency response when necessary. The Park Ranger also assists in conservation efforts, wildlife management, and public education programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enforce park rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment for visitors.
2. Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter illegal activities, identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with park policies.
3. Provide guidance, information, and assistance to visitors regarding park facilities, trails, recreational activities, and wildlife.
4. Monitor and report any suspicious activities, accidents, or incidents within the park, taking appropriate action as required.
5. Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid, coordinating search and rescue operations, and liaising with relevant authorities.
6. Assist in the preservation and conservation of park resources, including vegetation, wildlife, and historical sites.
7. Participate in wildlife management activities, such as monitoring and documenting animal behavior, conducting surveys, and implementing conservation measures.
8. Collaborate with other park staff, law enforcement agencies, and emergency personnel to ensure effective communication and coordination during emergencies or special events.
9. Provide support in the planning and execution of public education programs, including guided tours, presentations, and interactive activities to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
10. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on incidents, violations, visitor statistics, and conservation activities as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Previous experience in law enforcement, park management, or a relevant field is preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of park regulations, wildlife management, and environmental conservation principles.
4. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with visitors, park staff, and external agencies.
5. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
6. Proficient in using relevant technology, such as two-way radios, GPS devices, and computer software applications.
7. Physical fitness and ability to hike long distances, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift heavy objects when necessary.
8. Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle emergency situations effectively.
9. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
10. Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug screening.
