Job Summary:
The Railroad Police Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of railroad property, employees, passengers, and the general public. Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; advanced education in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
2. Must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
3. Successful completion of a certified law enforcement academy or equivalent training program.
4. Valid driver's license without a history of serious violations.
5. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, including criminal records, driving records, and personal references.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to law enforcement and railroad operations.
7. Excellent physical fitness and ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including prolonged standing, walking, running, and the ability to lift heavy objects.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
9. Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, making sound decisions under pressure.
10. Proficiency in using standard office software and law enforcement databases.
11. Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
12. Prior experience in law enforcement or security, preferably in a railroad or transportation-related setting, is desirable.
