Job Description: Fire Investigator
Position Overview:
The Fire Investigator is responsible for conducting thorough investigations to determine the origin, cause, and circumstances surrounding fires and explosions. This role requires in-depth knowledge of fire science, investigative techniques, and applicable laws to ensure accurate determinations are made. The Fire Investigator collaborates with various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, and legal professionals, to gather evidence, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct detailed investigations into the origin, cause, and circumstances of fires and explosions.
2. Assess fire scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and document findings in accordance with established protocols and legal requirements.
3. Interview witnesses, victims, and other relevant individuals to gather information and develop leads.
4. Analyze fire patterns, burn patterns, and other physical evidence to determine the cause and spread of fires.
5. Utilize specialized tools, equipment, and software to aid in the investigation and analysis of fire incidents.
6. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, insurance adjusters, and legal professionals to coordinate investigations and exchange information.
7. Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, including detailed findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on collected evidence.
8. Provide expert testimony in court proceedings, depositions, and other legal forums as needed.
9. Stay up to date with advancements in fire investigation techniques, codes, regulations, and best practices.
10. Maintain accurate records, including case files, evidence logs, and documentation related to investigations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
