Job Description: Real Estate Law Paralegal
Position Overview:
The Real Estate Law Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys specializing in real estate law within the Law and Criminal Justice Department. The paralegal will assist in various real estate transactions, conduct legal research, and perform administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the real estate law practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys in preparing and reviewing legal documents related to real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, deeds, and mortgages.
2. Conduct thorough title searches, analyze title reports, and assist in the resolution of any title issues that may arise.
3. Research and analyze real estate laws, regulations, and case precedents to support attorneys in advising clients on legal matters.
4. Prepare and maintain comprehensive real estate transaction files, ensuring the accuracy and organization of all relevant documents.
5. Coordinate and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, real estate agents, lenders, and other parties involved in real estate transactions.
6. Schedule and coordinate real estate closings, including preparing closing checklists, coordinating with all parties, and ensuring all necessary documentation is in order.
7. Assist in drafting and filing legal pleadings, motions, and other court documents pertaining to real estate litigation cases.
8. Maintain and update databases, calendars, and tracking systems to manage deadlines, court dates, and other critical information.
9. Provide administrative support, including managing correspondence, answering phone calls, and scheduling appointments for attorneys.
10. Stay informed about current trends, developments, and changes in real estate law and communicate relevant updates to the legal team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
2. Previous experience working as a paralegal in real estate law or a related area.
3. Thorough understanding of real estate law principles, regulations, and industry practices.
4. Proficient in conducting legal research using various resources, such as databases, online tools, and legal publications.
5. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex legal documents.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
8. Proficient in using legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
