Job Description: Radio Traffic Manager
Position Overview:
The Radio Traffic Manager plays a crucial role in the smooth operation of the broadcasting department by managing and coordinating the scheduling and placement of commercials and promotional content. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. The Radio Traffic Manager will work closely with the sales, production, and programming teams to ensure accurate and timely execution of all commercial and promotional schedules.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the scheduling and placement of commercial advertisements and promotional content in accordance with client agreements and station policies.
2. Coordinate with sales representatives to obtain accurate commercial instructions, including commercial copy, airing dates, and times.
3. Accurately input commercial orders into the traffic management system, ensuring all necessary information is entered correctly.
4. Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely delivery of commercial materials, such as audio files or scripts.
5. Monitor and update the traffic management system to reflect any changes or revisions to commercial schedules.
6. Resolve scheduling conflicts and make adjustments to commercial placements as required, ensuring optimal utilization of available airtime.
7. Communicate regularly with sales representatives and clients to address any concerns, provide updates, and ensure client satisfaction.
8. Generate and distribute daily/weekly traffic reports to various departments, providing insights on commercial inventory and availability.
9. Stay updated on industry trends and regulations related to commercial scheduling and broadcasting to ensure compliance.
10. Assist with training new team members on traffic management processes and systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Communication, Media, Broadcasting, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Traffic Manager within the radio broadcasting industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of traffic management systems and software (e.g., Wide Orbit, Marketron).
4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
5. Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accurate data entry and scheduling.
6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders.
7. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts efficiently.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for report generation and communication purposes.
10. Familiarity with industry regulations, including FCC guidelines, related to commercial broadcasting.
