Job Description: Curriculum Planner
Position Overview:
The Curriculum Planner is responsible for designing and developing educational curricula and instructional materials to meet the learning objectives of educational institutions or organizations. This role requires a strong understanding of curriculum design principles, instructional strategies, and educational standards. The Curriculum Planner collaborates with subject matter experts and educators to ensure the curriculum aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop comprehensive curriculum frameworks, course outlines, and instructional materials based on the organization's educational goals and objectives.
2. Conduct thorough research to identify best practices, emerging trends, and innovative teaching methods to incorporate into the curriculum development process.
3. Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to identify learning outcomes, content, and assessment strategies for each course or program.
4. Create and maintain a detailed curriculum development schedule, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
5. Develop and review curriculum materials, including lesson plans, presentations, handouts, and assessments, to ensure alignment with educational standards, instructional objectives, and desired learning outcomes.
6. Ensure curriculum materials are accessible and inclusive, catering to diverse learner needs and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
7. Stay updated on the latest advancements in the field of education and curriculum development, and incorporate relevant changes into the curriculum as required.
8. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as instructional designers, educators, and administrators, to validate curriculum effectiveness and make necessary revisions based on feedback and evaluation data.
9. Participate in curriculum review processes, monitor curriculum implementation, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
10. Maintain accurate documentation of curriculum development activities, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and curriculum revisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience in curriculum development or instructional design, with a strong understanding of curriculum design principles, learning theories, and instructional strategies.
3. In-depth knowledge of educational standards, such as Common Core State Standards or other relevant frameworks, and their application in curriculum development.
4. Strong research skills to gather and analyze data, identify best practices, and incorporate emerging trends into curriculum design.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts and instructional strategies effectively.
6. Proficiency in using curriculum design software and technology tools to create engaging and interactive instructional materials.
7. Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts, educators, and other stakeholders to gather input, ensure alignment, and foster a collaborative working environment.
8. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
