Job Summary:
The Refinery Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimizing various processes within the refinery to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operations. This role requires a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to refinery operations. The Refinery Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and optimize refinery processes to maximize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards, operational inefficiencies, and compliance issues.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to develop and implement process improvement initiatives and ensure their successful implementation.
- Analyze operational data, performance metrics, and laboratory test results to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans accordingly.
- Participate in the design and implementation of capital projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to refinery personnel, including operators, technicians, and maintenance teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting to identify the underlying causes of process deviations or equipment failures.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, work instructions, and training materials to ensure consistent and safe operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to refinery operations.
- Collaborate with environmental, health, and safety teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote a safe working environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience (X years) as a Refinery Engineer or similar role within the petroleum refining industry.
- In-depth knowledge of refinery processes, including distillation, catalytic cracking, hydrotreating, and blending.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and their application to refinery operations.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and other engineering tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and industry best practices for refinery operations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
