Job Summary:
The Water Treatment Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing water treatment systems and processes to ensure the safe and efficient treatment of water for industrial, commercial, or municipal use. This role requires a strong background in chemical engineering principles, as well as expertise in water treatment technologies and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop water treatment processes and systems, considering factors such as water source, quality, volume, and treatment objectives.
2. Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including process modeling, simulations, and optimization, to ensure efficient water treatment operations.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
4. Evaluate and select appropriate water treatment technologies, equipment, and chemicals based on project needs and regulatory standards.
5. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control measures for water treatment processes.
6. Perform system troubleshooting, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions to improve system performance.
7. Monitor and analyze water treatment data, conduct regular audits, and provide reports on system efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations, industry standards, and health and safety guidelines.
9. Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success and compliance.
10. Stay updated with emerging trends, research, and technological advancements in water treatment engineering and recommend innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience in designing and implementing water treatment systems, preferably in an industrial or municipal setting.
3. Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, water chemistry, and water treatment processes.
4. Proficiency in process modeling and simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and other engineering tools.
5. Familiarity with relevant water treatment technologies, such as coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, and membrane processes.
6. Sound understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards related to water treatment.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues.
8. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
9. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
10. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Note: A valid professional engineering license and additional certifications in water treatment or environmental engineering may be preferred or required for some positions.
