Summary:
The Systems Safety Engineer (Aerospace) will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of aerospace systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive safety assessments of aerospace systems, including subsystems, components, and interfaces.
- Develop and implement safety plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Evaluate potential hazards and risks associated with aerospace systems, utilizing advanced risk assessment techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify safety requirements and integrate safety considerations into the design and development processes.
- Perform system safety analyses, including fault tree analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and hazard analysis.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to verify compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to enhance safety awareness and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Participate in safety reviews and provide technical expertise to resolve safety-related issues or concerns.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in aerospace safety regulations, standards, and best practices, and ensure their incorporation into organizational safety protocols.
- Communicate safety recommendations and findings to stakeholders, both orally and in written reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in systems safety engineering within the aerospace industry.
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace systems, their components, and associated safety considerations.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4761, ARP4754A, MIL-STD-882.
- Proficiency in conducting safety analyses, including fault tree analysis, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex systems and identify potential risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
