Job Summary:
The Aircraft Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes and systems within the aerospace industry. This role requires a deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles, production methods, and quality control procedures. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing operations, while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for aircraft components, systems, and structures.
2. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability and assembly feasibility of aerospace products.
3. Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing processes, identifying potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
4. Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, procedures, and documentation for production teams.
5. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials, tooling, and equipment.
6. Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for design modifications to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
7. Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production processes.
8. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production non-conformities, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
9. Support the development and execution of validation and verification plans for manufacturing processes.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in aerospace manufacturing technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Solid knowledge of aircraft manufacturing processes, including composite materials, machining, assembly, and finishing techniques.
3. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., CATIA, AutoCAD) for manufacturing process planning and design modification.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
5. Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
6. Familiarity with industry quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and their implementation in manufacturing processes.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
8. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
9. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
