Job Description: Product Design Engineer (Mechanical)
Position Overview:
The Product Design Engineer (Mechanical) is responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems for our company's products. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and high-quality designs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies for new and existing products, ensuring they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
2. Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitive products to drive effective design solutions.
3. Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
4. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers, to ensure effective integration of mechanical designs into the overall product development process.
5. Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and tests to verify the feasibility, performance, and safety of mechanical designs.
6. Optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, cost, and reliability, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and codes.
7. Conduct thorough design reviews, providing clear and concise feedback to improve the design quality and mitigate risks.
8. Support the prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs, analyzing test data and making necessary design refinements.
9. Collaborate with suppliers and participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and qualification processes.
10. Stay updated with advancements in mechanical engineering, product design techniques, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance design capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in mechanical product design engineering, preferably in the [specific industry].
3. Proficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
4. Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
