Job Description: Structural Detailer
Position Overview:
The Structural Detailer is responsible for creating detailed design drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software. They work closely with engineers and architects to translate their design concepts into accurate and precise structural drawings. The Structural Detailer plays a critical role in the construction process by providing comprehensive and detailed documentation for the fabrication, assembly, and erection of structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed design drawings and models of structural components, including but not limited to beams, columns, walls, and foundations, using CAD software.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to understand design requirements and specifications.
- Interpret design concepts and translate them into accurate and precise drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and fabrication drawings for use in the manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on drawings to identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
- Review and incorporate engineering changes into existing drawings as required.
- Ensure that all drawings are properly documented, organized, and maintained.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, software tools, and design techniques to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Structural Detailer or similar role.
- Proficiency in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Revit, to create detailed structural drawings.
- In-depth knowledge of structural components, materials, and construction techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural engineering.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design-related challenges.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, architects, and other team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain and manage a large volume of drawings and documents.
