Job Title: Land Development Engineer
Job Description:
The Land Development Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of land development projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and company standards. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on land development. The Land Development Engineer will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design, plan, and execute projects efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop comprehensive land development plans in accordance with local regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry best practices.
2. Conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability and potential risks associated with land development projects.
3. Design and prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for site development, grading, drainage, utility systems, and erosion control.
4. Collaborate with architects, surveyors, and other engineering professionals to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
5. Review and evaluate project proposals, including site plans, zoning requests, and permit applications.
6. Conduct site visits to monitor and inspect ongoing projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
7. Perform calculations and analysis to determine stormwater management requirements, including detention and retention systems.
8. Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely completion of project milestones and deliverables.
9. Prepare and present reports, progress updates, and technical documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
10. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes related to land development engineering.
11. Collaborate with environmental agencies, community members, and local authorities to address concerns and ensure sustainable development practices.
12. Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
2. Proven experience in land development engineering, including site design, grading, drainage, and utility systems.
3. In-depth knowledge of local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements.
4. Proficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software for engineering drawings and design calculations.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex engineering challenges.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
7. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all project deliverables.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
9. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
10. Knowledge of sustainable land development practices and familiarity with LEED certification processes is desirable.
