Job Description: Hospital CFO (Chief Financial Officer)
Position Overview:
The Hospital CFO is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a healthcare organization. This role requires exceptional financial management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive financial performance while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement financial strategies and goals in alignment with the hospital's overall mission and objectives.
2. Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to ensure accurate and timely financial information for decision-making.
3. Monitor and manage the financial performance of the hospital, including revenue generation, expense control, and cash flow management.
4. Collaborate with other department heads to develop and execute financial plans that support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
5. Provide strategic financial guidance to the hospital's executive team, contributing to the development and implementation of long-term business plans.
6. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and reporting requirements, including healthcare-specific regulations such as HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid.
7. Assess and manage financial risks, implementing appropriate controls and mitigation strategies.
8. Oversee the preparation and submission of financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory filings.
9. Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and government agencies.
10. Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and accountability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree in finance, business administration, or healthcare administration is highly desirable.
2. Proven experience (minimum 10 years) in a financial leadership role within the healthcare sector, preferably in a hospital or healthcare system.
3. In-depth knowledge of healthcare finance, revenue cycle management, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare payment systems.
4. Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, including budgeting, financial analysis, and financial statement preparation.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies that support organizational goals and drive performance improvement.
6. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
7. Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement.
8. Proven track record of effectively managing financial risk and implementing internal controls.
9. Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and motivating high-performing teams.
