Job Description: Acute Care Physical Therapist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Acute Care Physical Therapist to join our healthcare facility. As an Acute Care Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapeutic interventions to patients with acute medical conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans to optimize patient recovery and functional mobility. This role requires exceptional clinical expertise and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical conditions, including assessing mobility, strength, range of motion, balance, and functional abilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and physician recommendations.
- Administer therapeutic interventions, such as therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, and modalities, to improve patients' physical function and reduce pain.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and self-care techniques to support their recovery and prevent further injuries.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a holistic approach.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patients' progress, update treatment plans, and provide input on discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Proven experience working as a Physical Therapist in an acute care setting.
- In-depth knowledge of acute medical conditions, surgical procedures, and treatment protocols.
- Proficiency in performing various therapeutic interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and modalities.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to evaluate patients' physical conditions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in physical therapy practices.
