Job Summary:
The Hand Therapist will be responsible for providing specialized rehabilitation services to patients with hand and upper extremity conditions, injuries, or disorders. The incumbent will assess, plan, and implement comprehensive therapy programs to improve patients' functional abilities and enhance their quality of life. The Hand Therapist will collaborate closely with physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' hand and upper extremity conditions to determine their physical limitations, functional abilities, and goals.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and goals, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions.
3. Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' range of motion, strength, dexterity, and coordination.
4. Utilize various modalities, such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, to assist in pain management and tissue healing.
5. Assess and provide appropriate splinting or orthotic devices to support proper hand function and promote recovery.
6. Educate patients and their families on injury prevention techniques, therapeutic exercises, and self-management strategies.
7. Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
9. Collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to establish coordinated care plans and ensure seamless patient transitions.
10. Stay updated on the latest advancements in hand therapy techniques, research, and technology through continuous professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field.
2. Valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
3. Certification as a Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred.
4. Minimum [X] years of experience in hand therapy or a related field.
5. In-depth knowledge of hand anatomy, upper extremity biomechanics, and common hand conditions.
