Job Summary:
The Endoscopy Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care during endoscopic procedures. This role involves assisting physicians, monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. The Endoscopy Nurse works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all required documentation and consents are completed accurately.
2. Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by providing the necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies.
3. Monitor patients before, during, and after the procedure, ensuring their safety and well-being.
4. Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and conscious sedation as ordered by the physician.
5. Assess patient vital signs, pain level, and overall condition, promptly reporting any abnormalities or changes.
6. Maintain a sterile environment during the procedure, adhering to infection control protocols and guidelines.
7. Monitor and document patient responses to medications and interventions, keeping accurate records of all procedures.
8. Provide patient education related to the procedure, post-procedure care, and potential complications.
9. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
10. Assist in the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of endoscopic instruments and equipment.
11. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures, including safety and quality standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Valid nursing license and certification as a Registered Nurse (RN).
2. Minimum of [X] years of experience in an acute care or endoscopy unit.
3. In-depth knowledge of endoscopy procedures, equipment, and related nursing protocols.
4. Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring, and providing direct patient care.

10. Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide compassionate care to patients experiencing discomfort or anxiety.
11. Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards and guidelines, including OSHA, HIPAA, and JCAHO.
