Job Summary:
The Animal Health Policy Advisor is responsible for providing expert guidance and support in the development and implementation of animal health policies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that animal health programs and initiatives align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Animal Health Policy Advisor will collaborate with internal stakeholders, industry professionals, and government agencies to drive strategic decision-making and influence policy changes that positively impact animal health and welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy Development and Implementation:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of existing and proposed animal health policies, regulations, and legislation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, review, and update animal health policies and procedures in alignment with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide guidance on the interpretation and application of animal health policies to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop strategies to drive policy implementation and monitor compliance across the organization.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
- Represent the organization in relevant industry forums, committees, and working groups.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify emerging issues and trends in animal health policy and recommend appropriate actions.
3. Policy Advocacy:
- Monitor and analyze animal health policy developments at local, national, and international levels.
- Prepare and present policy recommendations, briefs, and reports to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Advocate for policy changes that support the enhancement of animal health and welfare.
4. Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all animal health policy requirements and regulations.
- Develop and implement systems to monitor and report on policy compliance across the organization.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports on animal health policy initiatives, metrics, and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in animal health management or a similar field, with a focus on policy development and advocacy.
- In-depth knowledge of animal health policies, regulations, and legislation at local, national, and international levels.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make informed policy recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in using technology and software applications relevant to policy research, analysis, and reporting.
