Job Summary:
The Veterinary Clinical Pathology Technician is responsible for providing specialized technical support in the field of veterinary medicine, specifically in clinical pathology. This role involves conducting various laboratory tests, analyzing and interpreting results, and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases. The Veterinary Clinical Pathology Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient delivery of veterinary healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform laboratory tests and procedures related to clinical pathology, including but not limited to hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, and urinalysis.
2. Collect, prepare, and analyze samples, ensuring proper handling and adherence to laboratory protocols.
3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, analyzers, and other specialized equipment used in clinical pathology.
4. Accurately record and document test results, maintaining clear and organized records for reference and data analysis.
5. Collaborate with veterinary professionals to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of animal diseases.
6. Assist in the preparation and presentation of laboratory findings, including generating reports and providing recommendations to veterinarians and other healthcare providers.
7. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to proper biohazard protocols and ensuring the safe disposal of hazardous materials.
8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary clinical pathology techniques, attending training sessions and professional development activities as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Nursing, or a related field.
2. Certification as a Veterinary Technician or Technologist from an accredited institution.
3. Proven experience working as a Veterinary Clinical Pathology Technician, with a focus on laboratory testing and analysis.
4. In-depth knowledge of clinical pathology principles, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic techniques.
5. Proficient in using laboratory equipment and software applications related to clinical pathology.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex laboratory results accurately.
7. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring precise documentation and record-keeping.
8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting veterinary professionals and contributing to the overall healthcare team.
