Job Purpose:
The Animal Health Technician is responsible for providing exceptional animal care and veterinary nursing support within a veterinary medicine setting. This role requires a deep understanding of animal health, medical procedures, and excellent communication skills to ensure the well-being of animals in our care. The Animal Health Technician works closely with the veterinary nursing team, veterinarians, and other support staff to deliver high-quality veterinary care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate and competent animal care, ensuring the overall well-being of animals under veterinary supervision.
- Assist veterinary nurses in administering medication, vaccinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Monitor and record vital signs, behavioral changes, and physical conditions of animals, reporting any abnormalities to the veterinary nursing team.
- Prepare animals for surgical procedures, including prepping, sterilizing surgical equipment, and assisting veterinary nurses during surgeries.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the veterinary clinic, including animal enclosures, surgical areas, and equipment.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, such as radiographs, ultrasounds, and laboratory tests, ensuring accurate sample collection and recording.
- Provide support in emergency situations, including resuscitation efforts, wound management, and triaging.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including medication administration, post-surgical instructions, and preventive measures.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records for each animal, adhering to established protocols and confidentiality guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the veterinary nursing team, veterinarians, and other support staff to ensure seamless workflow and exceptional patient care.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Animal Health Technology from an accredited institution.
