Job Summary:
The Veterinary Dentist is responsible for providing specialized dental care and treatment to animals, ensuring their oral health and overall well-being. They will diagnose and treat various dental conditions in animals, perform dental surgeries, and offer preventative dental care. Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough dental examinations, including oral assessments, dental charting, and radiographic interpretation.

3. Develop and implement treatment plans for dental conditions, including extractions, restorations, endodontics, periodontal treatments, and orthodontics.
4. Perform dental surgeries, such as tooth extractions, oral tumor removals, jaw fracture repairs, and cleft palate repairs.
5. Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during dental procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort.
6. Utilize dental equipment, including digital dental radiography systems, ultrasonic scalers, high-speed dental units, and dental hand instruments.
7. Educate pet owners on proper dental care techniques, oral hygiene, and nutrition to promote long-term oral health in animals.
8. Collaborate with other veterinary professionals, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants, to provide integrated patient care.
9. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of dental treatments, procedures, and patient progress.
10. Stay updated with advancements in veterinary dentistry through continuous professional development and participation in relevant educational opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
2. Completion of an accredited veterinary dentistry residency program.
3. Board certification or eligibility for board certification with the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) or European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC).
4. In-depth knowledge of dental anatomy, oral pathology, dental radiology, and dental surgical procedures.
5. Proficiency in performing dental cleanings, extractions, restorations, and other dental treatments.
6. Demonstrated ability to interpret dental radiographs and diagnose oral diseases.
7. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for performing delicate dental procedures.
8. Strong communication skills to effectively educate pet owners and collaborate with a multidisciplinary veterinary team.
